DIY Wedding... Is It Worth It?

There's a lot to be said for budgeting and saving on wedding decor. But one things you don't always realize is how much TIME it takes to DIY. First you have to read the directions. Then you have to find the supplies. Then you actually have to MAKE it!

Lately I've been trying to make a lot of the decor myself. Pinterest is a LIFESAVER-- not to mention full of millions of ideas. Here are a few things I've been working on...

One thing I loved was the idea of taking an old suitcase and turning it into a card holder:

This is cute. For any party really.

And luck must have been on my side, because I discovered my grandfather's old suitcase one day when I was helping my parents move. Here is the version my sister-in-law helped me create!

Another decoration idea I thought was cute was the cupcake wrapper flower ball:

pretty, and easy

You wouldn't believe how hard it is to find decent cupcake wrappers. Plus, depending on the size of the ball-- you need a LOT. My mom and I ended up special ordering our wrappers online-- but they were perfect for the project! I finally finished one last weekend (only one more big one to go!):

So in the end, I've decided that it does take more time to have a DIY wedding-- but I feel very proud about the things I've invested my time in-- I can't wait until May!
