Sweet Slumber...

There is something that I am really good at-- and its called "sleeping".

In this last week my bedtime has creeped up earlier and earlier. Do I mind? Am I missing out on the most exciting part of the day? Am I sleeping my life away? I have no answers to these questions... I just know that I like sleeping. A lot.

And, for the record, I think the rest of America needs to appreciate sleeping as much as I do. After all, falling asleep at the wheel is a serious problem. I don't want to get run over by you-- just because you couldn't put yourself to bed earlier. For real.

Did you also know that a lack of sleep can contribute to weight gain? And increased risk of heart disease and/or diabetes? And depression? And it can ruin your smartness...

For all of the reasons above-- I am definitely "pro" sleep.

Here's a chart. If you don't know how to read it-- or you can't figure it out-- I think you need to get more sleep!

After all this sleep research, not only am I feeling a little sleepy... I also am intrigued to dig a little further. This time into the subject of "sleeping positions".

I've heard that the position you sleep in corresponds with your personality type. And I wondered if it was true...

Take a look at the sleep positions below-- find the one closest to what you normally use-- and follow the link to read about the personality type (I would type up the different kinds-- but I'm getting kind of tired.)

I think I am closest to the "yearner" with probably a little "foetus" mixed in. Click here to read more about yours... The "log" position makes me laugh-- can that be comfortable? And the "freefaller" looks like they will suffocate on the pillow... What is your sleep position?

For a slightly different spin check out this site...

And now, my friends, I leave you so that I can once again enter that magical land I can only enter through slumbering...

I wish you all sweet dreams!

  1. Wow Anna, I just woke up and your post makes me want to go right back to bed. It seems like the older I get, the more sleep I need. Which is very contrary to your chart. But then when I sleep more than about 9 or 10 hours, I wake up feeling worse than I did when I went to sleep. Sleep is magical though. I love my bed. It's a queen size now, so I'm super glad to not be sleeping in a twin bed anymore. Also, we have a memory foam mattress topper and these super soft jersey sheets. It feels like what I would imagine sleeping on a cloud would feel like (but not a super rainy cloud, a really dry fluffy one). I am pretty sure (without looking at the site, cause you made me too tired) that I sleep in the foetus position, which I've always called the fetal position. This is new for me; I used to combine the freefaller and something not on this list. So now, if you'll excuse me, I think I'll go back to sleep...

  2. okay, so is it a problem that I can sleep as much as an infant? haha. oh and you and I are twin sleepers. i, too, am a foetus/yearner. awww! meant to be!
